In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. |
0 |
By Those [stars] that rise only to set, (*) |
1 |
*
and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, |
2 |
and float [through space] with floating serene, |
3 |
and overtake [one another] with swift overtaking. |
4 |
and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] commands. |
5 |
[Hence think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], |
6 |
Followed by repeated [convulsions]! |
7 |
Hearts on that day will be pounding, |
8 |
Their eyes will be subdued. |
9 |
[And yet,] some say, "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state ? |
10 |
Even after we became rotten bones?. |
11 |
And they add: "That is then a loosing repetition ." |
12 |
But verily, it will be but a sudden and single cry, |
13 |
and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! |
14 |
*
Has the story of Moses reached you? |
15 |
When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley of Tuwaa. |
16 |
'Go to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: |
17 |
Then say: Do you have (a desire) to purify yourself: |
18 |
[If so,] I will guide you to your Lord so that you will fear(Him). |
19 |
Then he showed him(Paraoha) the great miracle. |
20 |
But he denied and disobeyed , |
21 |
and brusquely turned his back . |
22 |
and then he gathered [his great ones], and proclaimed. |
23 |
He said, 'I am your Lord; most high.' |
24 |
So God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world |
25 |
Verily in this is an instructive warning for whoever fears God . |
26 |
Are you more difficult to create than the heaven He has constructed ? |
27 |
He raised high its height, then put it into a right good state. |
28 |
*
And He made dark its night and brought out its light of day. |
29 |
And after that He spread the earth |
30 |
He produced from it its water and its pastures. |
31 |
And the mountains that He firmly fixed, |
32 |
[All this] as a provision for you and your livestock. |
33 |
And so, when the great overwhelming event [of, resurrection] comes to pass –, |
34 |
-that will be the day when the human being will be reminded of everything that he has done. |
35 |
And the inferno will be shown to all to see it. |
36 |
Then, for those who have transgressed- |
37 |
-and have preferred this worldly life- |
38 |
-then indeed the Inferno will be his abode. |
39 |
*
As for those who fear the majesty of their Lord and restrain the soul from low desires- |
40 |
-then the Paradise will be their abode. |
41 |
They ask you about the Last Hour, and when it will come to pass. |
42 |
how could you tell anything about it, |
43 |
To your Lord is its final destiny. |
44 |
You are only a deliverer of warning to those who are in awe of it. |
45 |
The Day when they see it, it seems as if they had lasted a single evening, or a single morning. |
46 |
