In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. |

بنام خدا؛ هستی بخش مهربان |

By the sun and its brightness, |
1 |
سوگند بخورشید و درخشندگیش |
*
|
|
and the moon that follows (reflects) it, |
2 |
و به ماه ، که دنباله رو(منعکس کننده) آنست |
|
|
By the day that reveals(the earth), |
3 |
سوکند به روز ، که هویدا میکند |
|
|
and the night that covers it. |
4 |
و بشب ، که آنرا میپوشاند |
|
|
By the sky and that which has built it, |
5 |
سوگند به آسمان ، و آنچه آنرا برپاداشته |
|
|
And the earth and that which has spread it. |
6 |
و بزمین ، و آنچه آنرا گسترانیده |
|
|
By the (human) self and that which has formed it, |
7 |
سوگند به نفس و آنچه آنرا بسرشت |
|
|
Then it is inspired with its immoral doings and its God fearing (consciousness). (*) |
8 |
پس فجور(بی پروایی) و تقوی (پروا) او را به وی الهام نمود |
|
|
Indeed he succeeds that purifies it(his self), |
9 |
هرآینه رستگار شود آنکس که نفس را پاک و تزکیه کند |
|
|
and he loses that corrupts it. |
10 |
و هرآینه به مطلوب نرسد(ببازد) کسیکه آنرا آلوده سازد |
|
|
Thamud denied (the truth)through their arrogance, |
11 |
قوم ثمود با سرکشی خود (حق را)تكذيب كرد |
|
|
When the worst among them rushed forward (to do evil deed). |
12 |
آنگاه که بدنهادترین فرد قوم برانگیخته شد |
|
|
And God's messenger told them, "It is a she-camel belonging to God, so let her drink [and do her no harm]!" |
13 |
پیامبر خدا ازشتر خدا وآبشخورآن بآنها گفت |
|
|
But they rejected him and slaughtered her. Their Lord then destroyed them, all alike, for their sin. |
14 |
پس او را تکذیب و شتر را پی کردند ، لذا پروردگارشان بخاطرگناهشان نابودشان کرد ، همه را یکسان |

|
while non of them had any fear of what might happen. |
15 |
در حالیکه قوم از فرجام آن بیمی نداشت |
